Hello! Who’s excited for Fall and the ripple of holidays to follow?! We are for sure! We love Halloween and are so excited about this cute witch hat. We’re excited you got the kit and we’re sure you will be loving this in your house too!
What’s in your kit:
- Wood hat (including overlay and star) + block
- Vinyl
- Black paint
- Purple paint
- Floral paper
- Black lace paper
- Orange polka dot paper
- Foam brushes
- Wood glue
How to make it:
Step 1-Trace:
First, stand your hat pieces up so they fit together correctly. The overlay piece goes over the seam of the other two pieces. They should all fit together one way. Now put an X on the front of each piece.
Next, trace the pieces onto the paper. Place the X side onto the black side of the floral paper and trace. Place the X side of the overlay onto the book page side of the paper and trace. It doesn’t matter which side of the star you trace. Now set the paper aside.
Step 2-Paint:
Paint everything but the base block black. No need to paint the front of the large hat piece since it will be covered with paper. Only the sides need to be painted on the star and overlay piece- one side will be covered with paper, the other side will be glued.
While the paint is drying, cut out the traced pieces.
Step 3- Glue:
Put wood glue on the wood surfaces that will be covered, brush it on like you would paint. Be sure to get all the edges. Then place the paper pieces onto the glue and press, smoothing out bubbles.
Next, glue the two hat pieces together. Step 4- Vinyl:
While the 2 hat pieces dry, apply the vinyl to the purple block. If you need detailed instructions on vinyl application see THIS post.
Finally, glue the star to the overlay and glue to overlay to the hat. Let the glue dry completely before standing the hat upright.
Once all the glue is dry (about 15 minutes to be safe) it’s ready for display!
