Hi there! We’re so happy you purchased this cute Valentine kit! We fell in love with this adorable little mailbox the second we laid eyes on it! It’s just perfect for adding a little love for Valentine’s day. This is a pretty quick craft and everything you need is included in your kit except a sanding block and scissors.
Start by painting the mailbox, mini envelope, bead board overlay, and finial WHITE. You only need to paint the sided and front of the envelope and bead board overlay. Paint the sides, back, and about 1/4″ of the front of the mailbox.Next, paint the sides, back and about 1/4″ of the front of the 5×7 block red. Paint the entire little flag since most of it will show. Paint the sides and back of the mini heart. Last paint just the sides of the bigger heart. Remember you can’t over-paint, for example- if you painted the entire bigger heart instead of just the sides -no harm done! We just like to tell you to paint what is really necessary. 😉
You will also trace the bigger heart onto the red glitter paper and cut out. Then glue the glitter paper heart onto the wood heart. For the mini envelope, fold the rectangle paper in half. Then cut from the center fold to the upper corner on both sides, making a triangle.
Glue the triangle paper onto the mini envelope. Now for the block! Paint the front of the block with wood glue, make sure to get all the way to the edges.Place the ‘Sending my Love’ print on the block and press from the middle out to avoid air bubbles. Make sure you glue the print right side up with the hole on the top! Then use wood glue to attach the mini heart to the mini envelope and then glue the mini envelope to the block. Press the finial into the hole on top of the block, tie the ribbon in a knot around the finial and the block is done! Now for the mailbox! Trace the mailbox onto the heart paper and cut out.Glue the paper to the mailbox, then glue on the bead board overlay, the glitter heart, and the little flag to the side. You can sand the edges of all these pieces as much or as little as you want. We don’t recommend sanding the glitter paper though-it looks much better un-sanded, take our word for it. 😉Last step, wrap a little bakers twine around the whole mailbox. Just tie a knot in the back to finish it off.
