Hooray for sunshine and warm days! This months kit is perfect to usher in the warm, sunny days that are finally here! It’s a super simple craft - you’ll have it done in no time.
What’s in your kit:
- Wood sun and center circle
- 4 x 4 block
- Candle cup (for the block base)
- Small wood topper
- Yellow paint
- Foam brush
- Yellow paper
- Sunshine print
- Ribbon
- Wood glue
You will also need:
- Sanding block or sand paper
- Small paint brush (to help paint in between the sun rays)
- Pencil
- Scissors
Before painting anything, trace the sun circle onto the yellow paper and set aside. *Helpful tip: Trace your circle on the backside of the paper, then write an X on the top of the wood piece and the top of the paper. Doing that will be helpful when it comes to matching the paper and circle up for gluing, since the circle is not an exact circle.*
Time to get painting! For the sun, paint the edges and in between the sun rays first, then lay flat and paint the front. The center circle only needs to be painted on the edges. The 4 x 4 block needs to be painted on the sides and the back and just a bit on the front edges.
Basically, just paint everything yellow!
Next step is the paper and prints. Paint wood glue on the surfaces and place the paper.
Smooth out any air bubbles, then set the face down to dry.
Next, glue the center circle onto the sun. Also glue the candle cup to the base of the block and the wood topper on top. Stand it up to let the glue dry.
Last, tie the ribbon around the wood topper and it’s done!
Perfect to leave up all through summer!
