We are crazy about this summer sign - it speaks straight to our summer lovin’ hearts! We’ll have it up all summer long as we savor every part of summertime. This cute sign is easy to make too! We’ve got you covered with all the tips and tricks to make this craft go as smooth as possible. You’ll have this summer sign up in your house in no time.
What’s in your kit:
- Box sign
- Vinyl
- White paint
- Stain
- Brushes
You will also need:
- Masking tape
- Scissors
How to make it:
Step 1- Tape:
Start by masking off the inside of the frame.
Step 2-White Paint:
Paint the inside white. Make sure to do LIGHT coats of paint. If you prefer more than one coat, be sure to allow plenty of time for the previous coat of paint to dry before painting another. The biggest factor when using vinyl is making sure the paint is completely dry before attempting to apply the vinyl, so we like to emphasize light coats of paint and dry time! We want your craft to turn out great!
Step 3-Stain:
While the white paint is drying, stain the outside and front of the frame.
Step 4-Tape (again):
If the white paint is dry, peel away the original masking tape and tape the white. Scissors will be helpful to cut straight lines on the tape so it will match up to the frame.
Step 5- Stain (again):
Now stain the inside of the frame.
Let dry and peel away the tape.
Step 6- Vinyl:
Now the box frame is ready for the vinyl! Peel away the backing and place the vinyl in the box. Press using a vinyl squeegee or credit card, then carefully peel away the clear transfer tape. We have found slowly rolling it at a steep angle works best when removing transfer tape.
