“There’s Gnome place like Home”
These Spring Gnomes are adorable! Those beards makes these cute guys simply irresistible. They are fun to make, and perfect for any spring decor. We will walk you through the tutorial, step by step, and you’ll be smiling at these adorable gnomes in no time.
What’s in the kit:
- 3 Wood gnomes
- Candle cup & wood disk (for pedestal)
- Paper
- Fur/Beards
- Paint
- Brushes
- Glue
You will also need:
- Pen or pencil
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
How to make them:
Step 1-Paint:
Start by painting the sides and back of the gnomes gray.
Paint the inside edges on the front of the gnomes. Also, paint the edges of the hat brim pieces and the beard overlay gray.
Next, paint the candle cup and the circle disc cream. Let all the paint dry.
NOTE: We left the noses unpainted, we really liked how they looked that way.
Step 2 - Trace and Cut:
Place the beard overlays on the back side of the fur and trace each piece.
The trick to keeping the beard hair long is to cut UNDER the fur. Place the scissors close to the backing and on cut slowly and deliberately to keep the blades under the fur.
Use each gnome and hat brim to trace onto the patterned paper and cut out.
Step 3 - Glue:
Use glue to assemble all the pieces. Attach the cut fur onto the beard overlays.
Paint glue onto the gnomes and hat brim to attach the paper. Then glue the beard onto the gnome, make sure the beard overlay doesn’t hang over the bottom of the body so the gnome will still stand. Then glue the hat brim right above the beard overlay. Lastly, create a little part in the fur giving a mustache look.
