Spring Burlap Wreath
This wreath has been one of our most popular crafts since we created it 3+ years ago. We really love this Spring version! All it takes to move from one season to the next with this wreath is to switch out the bow. Another reason to love it! It’s so versatile, and cute. Also, we have perfected the technique for this wreath from start to finish making it easy and fun!
What’s in your kit:
- Wrapped 12 inch foam wreath form
- 72 burlap squares
- Pins
- 3 pieces of ribbon (2 short, and 1 long)
- Jute
Step 1-Fold:
Then take one outside corner and fold it to the bottom corner.
Take the other outside corner and fold it to the bottom corner, overlapping the previous corner. (Thank goodness for pictures right?!)
Step 2-Pin and Repeat:
Pin the burlap petal to the wreath form.
Now repeat, laying each new petal just over the pin from the previous petal. We found it best to do a complete circle right in the center of the wreath form before filling in the rest of the wreath.
It will look like this after the first row is complete. So pretty already isn’t it?!
Step 3- Fill in:
Now start filling in. Pin petals in between each center row petal. Work around the outside of the wreath first.
Now, move to the inside. Pin a petal in for every 2 center row petals.
Ta-da! Gorgeous!
Now the wreath itself is complete, but this baby needs a bow. Almost every person we’ve crafted with stresses when it comes to tying a bow, of any kind. So we knew we had to come up with a way to get a beautiful bow stress-free; and we did! This technique will give you a perfect bow every time!
How to make a perfect bow
What’s in your kit:
- 2 shorter pieces of ribbon (approx. 8 inches long)
- 1 longer piece of ribbon (approx. 15 inches long)
- Jute
We use 2 inch or 2 1/2 inch wired ribbon to make the bows for our burlap wreath. This green chevron ribbon is what we put on our wreath for Christmas.
Take one of the short strips and fold the end in half lengthwise:
Cut at an angle, making sure to start the cut on the folded side.
Do the same to the other short strip.
Now scrunch the uncut ends together like this:
And pin them to the wreath. You just made the bow tails.
Next take the longer strip and fold the two ends into the center, overlapping them just a bit.
Tie some jute around the center. You just made the bow loops!
Tie the bow onto the wreath at the top of the two tail pieces, covering the pin.
Mind blown. Simply untie and unpin the bow to switch it out seasonally! So easy!
