Hi there! We are excited to say we just wrapped another year teaching a class an the Pinners Conference in Salt Lake City! Our class was this beautiful red felt wreath. We have taught at this amazing Expo for 7 years now, and we love it every time.
They’re taking the Pinners Conference all over the country, check out their website HERE to see if there’s one near you, it’s such a fun event full of all kinds of classes and amazing shopping. We had a FULL class and everyone walked away with a beautiful completed wreath!
If you couldn’t make it to our red felt wreath class, but purchased a kit from us we’ve got you covered. We’ll show you step by step how to make it. It’s super simple, and fun to make. We have made many versions of felt wreaths. Click HERE to see a smaller version in white, click HERE to see a different folding technique on a heart wreath form, click HERE to see a red, white, and blue version. We weren’t kidding. 😉
Okay, let’s get started!
What’s in your kit:
- 16 inch foam wreath form
- 90 felt squares (4 in. x 4 in. )
- Straight pins (approximately 90)
- White ribbon (1 yard)
Notice the wreath form is marked with dots. There is a dot about every 1 1/2 inches. You will be pinning one felt petal to each dot on the wreath form, but we’ll get to that in a minute. Let’s first show you how to fold the felt squares!
How to make it:
This is a super simple wreath to make- fold, pin, repeat.
Start with one felt square.
Fold the square corner to corner making a triangle.
Now fold the RIGHT corner across the FRONT to the left.
Next fold the LEFT corner across the BACK to the right.
It will look like an ‘S’ , or a petal, when you look at it from the top.
Now take a straight pin, push it through the corner,
and push the pin into a dot on the wreath form.
This is where those dots come in handy! They will keep spacing perfect and keep that first row centered. Remember one pin/felt petal to each dot.
Place each felt petal facing the same direction around the wreath form. They will be overlapping each other slightly.
Now to fill it it. Pin one felt petal in between each first row petal, facing OUTWARD.
Next, pin another felt petal in between each first row petal facing INWARD.
Repeat working your way around the wreath.
Once you have filled in around the entire wreath, you can fluff and twist however you want to make it as full as you’d like!
Finally, use the ribbon to hang your wreath and it’s ready for display!
So simple right?!
