This months craft is especially exciting-it’s a Find it Make it Love it exclusive! That’s right, Steff and I designed this hot air balloon from start to finish and it’s only available through our classes or kits. We’re pretty excited about it and we’re excited to come up with more Find it Make it Love it exclusives! We’ll be sure to keep you posted. 🙂
Let’s get to the tutorial for this cute craft.
What’s in your kit:
- Hot air balloon with bead board overlay
- Wood block for the base
- 2 wood dowels
- Seafoam paint
- White paing
- Brushes
- String for banner
- Square papers for banner
- Paper for balloon basket
You will also need:
- Sand paper or sanding block
- Scissors
Start by painting the large balloon piece Seafoam. Paint all the other pieces white.
Set them aside to dry.
Next, you will need to cut the V shape out on the banner pieces. They are cut to size and even have the holes punched already. To cut the V shape, fold one of the papers in half lengthwise and cut from the folded side to the corner. You can cut them all that way, or use the first one as a template to trace onto the others and cut.
Once you have them all cut, thread the string through the banner pieces.
Next, paint some wood glue onto the back of the bead board overlay and place it on the bigger balloon.
Also paint some glue onto the balloon basket block and place the red paper on it.
To attach the banner, simply wrap it around the balloon and tie the string in a knot at the back.
Finally, line up the holes with the dowels and stand it up.
