We are so happy you got this haunted house plank sign kit! It has just the right amount of spook and cute. This is a pretty simple project and it’s a fun one! As always, we have a complete tutorial here for you to follow as much or as little as you’d like to get your craft done.
What’s in your kit:
- Plank sign
- Wood circle
- Spacer/3D block
- White, black, orange paint
- Brushes
- Haunted house vinyl
- Bats vinyl
- Wood glue
You will also need:
- masking/painters tape
- sanding block (optional)
How to make it:
Start by painting the inside of the plank white. We just did one coat for a more white washed look, you can paint to your liking of course.
Now paint the wood circle orange. Just paint the sides and the front. Set aside to dry. Once the white paint on the plank sign is totally dry, use masking tape to tape off around the inside of the frame. Press the edges of the tape down really well where it meets the frame. Paint the frame black. Be sure not to paint too heavily where the tape is.Now set the plank sign aside to dry.
Adding vinyl:
Once the orange paint is dry, it’s time to place the haunted house vinyl. Peel away the white backing, lay the sticky piece onto the circle, press the house down using a vinyl presser or a credit card, and peel away the clear sticky sheet leaving the haunted house on the circle.
When the black paint is dry on the plank sign, peel away the masking tape. Perfect lines on this type of project are nearly impossible, so if you have a little paint bleeding where the white meets the black just remember you will never look at it this closely again. Feel free, of course to touch up anywhere you think really needs it.
Finally, glue the 3D block in the center of the plank sign. Then paint the top of the 3D block and place the haunted house circle.
Last step, peel the bats off the sheet and place them, just like stickers!
All done and ready for some perfectly cute and spooky Halloween decorating!
