Apples are the perfect way to kick off Fall decorating! It might be a little too early for pumpkins and leaves, but apples are just right. Today we’re sharing our DIY Apple Orchard sign!
This sign has been one of our most popular craft party projects lately! It’s really easy, it’s versatile, and of course, it’s super cute. (To learn more about our home craft parties and kits click HERE.) Once you have the supplies gathered up, this is as easy as crafting gets. Of course, it can be made any size and any color you want, but we’ll show you how to make it just like ours and you take it from there. 🙂
If you purchased a kit from us you will have all the supplies (except the vinyl squeegee) provided in your kit.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- One 2×6 board cut 18 inches long
- Acrylic craft paint
- Foam paint brush
- Apple orchard vinyl and transfer tape
- Vinyl squeegee (helpful, but not necessary)
How to make it:
Step 1- Paint:
First, paint the wood white. We kept ours pretty light for a white washed look. Remember light coats are key when applying vinyl. Each coat of paint needs to be completely dry before painting another coat. Luckily, acrylic craft paint dries really fast.
Step 2- Vinyl:
We used the Silhouette Studio software to design our vinyl and the Silhouette Cameo to cut it. (Just a helpful tip, because of how long this vinyl needed to be, we used the 12 x 24 inch cutting mat.) If you have a Silhouette and need a little help cutting the vinyl check out this tutorial: How to cut vinyl.
Once your vinyl is cut and weeded, and transfer tape is applied, you’re ready to go! (If you have a kit purchased from us, you will skip this step and have vinyl ready to use.)
Peel the white backing away from the words. The words will come up with the transfer tape. Place the vinyl on the wood and press with a vinyl squeegee or credit card. Then peel away the clear transfer tape.

We’re loving this sign for this time of year, you know - when we can’t really commit to summer anymore, but can’t fully commit to Fall either-haha!
