If you’re looking for some small space inspiration, we’ve got it for you today! An entire room can be difficult to come up with to dedicate to a particular use, but what about a closet?! Since most of us probably don’t have 10 bedroom houses to designate to all the things and activities we need or want, we have a little inspiration to help with at least one of them-a closet turned office space!
Here is the closet in Steffany’s living room. She was using it for some storage, but decided transforming it into a functional office space would be a more useful way to utilize the space.
Here is the closet before it’s transformation:
Don’t we all have a closet or two that look just like this? All the items were pretty easily transitioned to new spaces, making way for the office makeover.
The first step of course, was to clean out the closet and remove the door.
Next step, Steff painted the inside walls of the closet the same color as the walls in the room.
Then they built two floating shelves into the closet. One for the computer and printer, the other for decor and office supply storage.
To really finish the overall look, they bought a barn door and track kit from Lowe’s. It came all ready to go, it was just a matter of installing it! (They did need to add an extender piece on the barn door hardware to avoid covering the panel above the door.)
After adding a few decorative touches and setting up the computer (and printer), it’s a fully functional office space!
What a great use of space, right?! Off the top of my head, I can think of three designated rooms that I would really like to have if it were possible: an office, an exercise room, and of course - a craft room. (Let’s be honest though, the exercise room would get dusty long before the craft room or office would-haha!) Having a designated space for things and activities sure makes day to day life nice though!
Are your wheels turning? What closets or small spaces do you have that you could transition into a more functional and useful space?
