Happy New Year everyone! We can still say that right? We’re only six days in to the new year……..so we totally decided we’re still saying it:). We’re even taking it one step further and sharing a little New Year craft! First, we hope you all had a fabulous Christmas. Steff and I are slowly dragging ourselves back into routine, thus the late New Year project. This is a pillow that I had pictured in my brain since like December 1 but with Christmas and birthdays, I never got to it. Then New Year’s Eve and New Year’s day came and went and I almost gave up on this little vision. But then I thought—the whole month of January is still the New Year- I will make this pillow and put that baby on the couch ALL month!! Then I will POST this pillow even if it’s late in the game.:) So here we go!
What you need:
- Iron Transfer Vinyl
- Cutting machine (we used the Silhouette)
- Pillow cover and insert
Check out our tutorial HERE for an easy envelope pillow.
We got this glitter iron transfer vinyl from Daily Craft Vinyl. It’s so pretty and easy to use. We followed THIS tutorial on Silhouetteamerica.com, because this iron on vinyl is still pretty new to us. This glitter vinyl must be thicker than some, because we had to set the blade to a higher number than the Silhouette recommended. We may have taken it a little too far and set it to a 5 which cut through the backing and all, but it all worked out in the end. Crafting is trial and error, we’re just happy it didn’t end up in the Craft fail file. 🙂
This is my iron, looking all triumphant after it’s good work.
It looks just like I imagined! A happy little greeting and a pretty quick project. We wish you all a very happy new year!
